Plugins For Your Blog - How to Use the 5 Top Plugins By Laura J Miller

It seems that a lot people are confused on just what blog plug ins are and how to install them properly. What are blog plugins and why do I need one? A plug in, is a download you can get for free at many different places on the Internet. Depending on what you are trying to do will depend on what blog plug in you get. There are many different ones for different functions, and most bloggers will tell you what they use but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to have it.

There are a few plug ins that are a MUST to have if you want your blog to function correctly and get recognized by the search engines with each post. Here are just a few that I hear over and over again that are a Must to have:

All-In-One-SEO - this allows you to set the title of your post for search engines, assign a brief description of your post, and add your own keywords, these can be different from your original post so your title and description are search engine friendly.

Google XML Sitemap - this one will create a special sitemap for Google, it does not show up on your blog, it is a behind the scene plug in.

MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer - with this plug in you don't have to worry about notifying other places when you make a post. It will also allow you to make changes to a post without notifying other places that all you did was an update. If your posts get pinged too often it can be considered spam

WordPress Database Backup - this is a Must Have plugin it will backup your complete blog and you can either have it saved to your computer and/or sent to your email address. You can set a schedule to have your blog backed up one a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.

All-in-one Bookmarking Button - this plugin will put a bookmark button at the end of your posts to make it easier for your visitors to bookmark your blog

Now like I mentioned, every blogger will tell you the plugins they use, getting and using plugins will depend greatly on the purpose of your blog and what your market will like. Do not put things on your blog that YOU like, always, always, keep your visitors/customers first in mind when you are planning your blog and content.

Now let's discuss installing your plugin.

Once you download your plugin, it will usually come in.zip format. There are different ways to install your plugin. The easiest fastest way to do this, is to log into your admin area of your blog, click on plugin and choose Add New. You will see where it says Install a plugin in.zip format. Next to this box, click the browse button to find where on your computer the plugin is saved. Click upload.

On the next page you will be able to see the status of the upload, when it is finished you will be given the links to activate your plugin click this to activate it. Now remember, some plugins require additional set up so be sure that you read all the information that comes with the plugin or on the website where you downloaded it. That is really all there is to installing your plugins and activating them.

The Importance of Blogging For Increasing Visitors to Your Website By John NN P

If you have just started a new website and are checking your stats wondering where the visitors are, you are not alone. Many people think that if the buy or make a website then the visitors and sales will just appear.
Unfortunately this isn't the case. Getting visitors is a difficult job that is an ongoing problem. Consider the competition. There were approximately 183 million websites in the first quarter of 2009. That gives a lot of places for people to visit before they get to you.

You have to do something that will make your website seem more attractive to visit than the others. Firstly people have to know about your website. A blog will give them this basic information. Secondly, a blog will allow you to comment daily on whatever you want. This will feed into the net and become a draw for people looking for something to read. Your business pages will be fairly static, but the blog can change every day, drawing people in. Once they have read your blog they will visit your site. And as they get to know you through you blog, they will be more comfortable buying from you.

A blog is therefore a vital part of your armoury. If you want to get visitors then you need to set up a blog, and update it as often as possible.

Starting a blog does not have to be expensive. In fact it can be free! If you visit wordpress.com you can easily start a blog completely free. Start updating it daily. Mention your site, and link to your site, but also comment on news and events - whatever people are searching for online. Be topical and you will soon find that your blog is driving visitors to your site.
Good luck!

Get More Traffic to Your Site With RSS to Blog By Mack Briggs

RSS to clog proves to be a boon to all bloggers since this technology helps them get more traffic to their site and establish their position in the online blogging community. In order to completely understand the technology, let us first examine the basics. As RSS program is one that prompts the online traffic that an update on a website has been made or added. The new information about a new blog will be sent out to a reader once he subscribes to a certain feed. A reader would have an option on the feed he could likely subscribe to since an RSS creates a summarized text, date when the blog was published, and author information. To facilitate a wider scope of readership for the subscribers, RSS also combines several contents from other websites.

Meanwhile, blogs are increasingly becoming popular these days since there are less stringent restrictions imposed upon them and the topics that anyone can discuss can touch on several items. Blog topics can range from the mundane to the academic, and the coherence would depend on the writer himself.

RSS to blog is a by-product of the desire to combine an efficient system and solid rationality. Because of this successful fusion, one can simultaneously earn both the desired profit and valuable time. This is mainly due to RSS to blog and its capacity to not only publish feeds to your blogs but also regular texts. If you wish to store stories a month at a time, you can have the 24/7 convenience to program the RSS to blog to automatically update your creation. If your schedule changes; you can reprogram the software easily.

An RSS to blog can be a helpful instrument if you wish to create blogs without divulging your real identity. It eliminates your footprints that can possibly be used by search engines to track you down. People who regularly post criticisms on the government or any target institution, this feature would be particularly important. By randomizing your blog formats your tracks will be eliminated as they would appear different every time while erasing possible links that could lead to you.

Concerning its attribute to create more traffic, an RSS to blog has the autolinking feature which enables you to distribute your articles to multiple blogs all at once. Foreign characters are also featured for your perusal in case you find it necessary to translate your blogs. For precise blog filtering, an RSS to blog can indicate the recently used keywords by presenting them in bold letters.

You might have already surmised that an RSS to blog software is an installation nightmare with all the features that it holds. Actually, it is not. The leaps and bounds made by present technology have enabled a sophisticated tool such as this one to become as user-friendly as it possibly could. There is software nowadays that install themselves on your server, including automatic creation and population of the mysql database, permission changes and cron setup; such that using an RSS to blog becomes as easy as 1,2,3.

Top 10 Best Ways to Get Social Media Traction For Your Blog By Sally Witzky

Writing effective blog posts that get you traction often is something that puzzles the small business owner. While it's not brain science, it does take a little time to get the hang of it. Once you get a system down for writing and editing, then it gets easier with time.

Here are our top 10 best ways for you to get more mileage out of your small business blog:

  1. Write an effective blog title. Your blog's title is its billboard. It is what piques peoples interest enough to stop and read it. Don't be vague - blog titles are no place for story lines. If it takes people more than a glance to figure out if it has any relevance to them, then you'll lose your target audience. Quick.
  2. Write with enough substance but not too long. Ideal blog posts are 350-500 words in length. They can be shorter or longer. If shorter, be sure you're covering your subject with enough detail. Sometimes posts that include photos or videos can be shorter as far as number of words is concerned. If longer, be sure you're making enough new points within the article that you won't lose your reader, or graphically break up the copy with photos, bullet points or numbers as we've done here.
  3. Add a call-to-action. We usually prefer that the post is closed in some way, either with contact info to get more information or a next step for your reader. Don't just leave 'em hanging, as if the post writer was lazy and left an unfinished piece. Your readers are looking for you to sum up your points in some way or lead them to the next step so they don't have to guess at your intention.
  4. Review your keyword list. All blog owners should be working with a keyword list that includes 5 main key words or phrases that you want to really own in the search engines, along with other keywords that are relevant to your content and what your target audience is searching for. Revising your blog posts to ensure a proper density of your main key words as well as any ancillary key words or phrases is critical to your blog's success. Tip: If you do not have a keyword / keyphrase list, don't write another post until you create one! This is critical to your blogging success!
  5. Ping your blog. Be sure to ping your blog each time you post new content. This helps the search engines to know to look for updated content on your blog. Technorati, the search engine designed for searching blogs, is still valuable as is using Weblogs.com.
  6. Blog Communities. Taking the time to list your blog in popular blog directories not only helps you gain new followers by making your content appear elsewhere but increases your search engine rankings because these sites have more SEO power than your site by itself. One of my favorites is NetworkedBlogs, which integrates directly with Facebook. NetworkedBlogs keeps a ranking of the top blogs in each city based on local followers so it is particularly important for local businesses. Other blog directories we feel are a must are BlogCatalog, Blogged and MyBlogLog.
  7. Blog post sharing. It is critical to make it easy not only for your readers to comment on your blog but also for them to share it. Popular sharing services such as ShareThis, which also provides results tracking, and TweetMeme make it very easy for others to share your posts with their audiences.
  8. Outbound links. Can't tell you how many blog posts we see that utilize zero outbound links. Blog posts aren't book pages so don't treat them that way. The whole idea is that your post provides an interactive experience and a way for people to learn more about a company, product or service that you mention in your post. Plus, it's just common courtesy to refer out because that is exactly what you want others to do for you. But don't overload -- a few resources is all you need.
  9. Write well and often. Ideally, you should be posting two to three times per week on your blog. More often if possible. Google, Yahoo and Bing tend to find your blog easier and more often when there is fresh content posted that includes your blog's main key words and phrases. Building repetitive use of keywords and phrases over several entries, plus creating a history or backlog of posts (duration length) aids your overall ranking. Always add relevant photos, YouTube videos, SlideShare presentations or other graphics to make your posts more visually appealing.
  10. Tag you're it. Don't forget to take the time to include your category and post tags for each and every entry and be consistent with matching the tags to the post itself. This includes the custom title tags, meta description and meta keywords.
Effective blogging can take time but it's worth doing if you've made the commitment to your blog. If you have created guidelines for your blog's content, including your keyword list, then you can have guest bloggers add content if frequency of writing is a problem for you. If you own a small business, appoint several people to be part of a blogging team so that you as the business owner don't have to be responsible for creating all the content. Or sometimes you can find a virtual assistant or intern to help write and/or edit and post with the proper tagging sequences.

What if there was an easy way to make money in a relatively short period of time using the power of the internet? With all the opportunities the Internet provides, the one real requirement is that you blog.

Blogging for cash is not a new concept. The concept has, in fact, helped a lot of people convert their time and writing skills into cash. The only thing you have to do to enjoy these benefits is to give it a try.

There are many ways to start blogging for cash. In blogging, the important thing is to find a stable following and sustain it with interesting posts. Your topic - known as your "niche" - is the most important decision you have to make. There are many kinds of blogs you can maintain to make money. Here are a few you might like to try:

  1. Write reviews and get paid - One good way to use blogging to earn cash is to write reviews. Reviews written by bloggers are usually more effective because readers these days trust bloggers more since these are written by ordinary consumers like them. This is why a lot of companies prefer to have their reviews written by bloggers. You can enlist the help of certain websites to connect you with these companies.
  2. Sell your links - A lot of people making money from the Internet uses links as their main products. You can do the same. Sell the links on your blog and make money off them. One good tip is to use WordPress for your blog because WordPress offers plugins that help you to sell your own products or products of others - known as affiliate marketing.
  3. Sell ad space - If you can make money off one-liner links, you can make more off ad space on your blog. Get companies to post their ads on your site and charge them for the space. If your blog has good page ranking and following, more companies will be interested in advertising on your site.
  4. Website flipping - You can also apply the concept of website flipping to your blog. To effectively do this, be ready to maintain and nurture your blog along the way. You can earn a lot using this method, depending on the quality and longevity of your blog.

So, blogging for cash could entail using any of these methods, but they won't be effective if you don't know how to popularize your blog. The key is to improve your blog's page rank and create a good base of readers. Here are some tips on how to do this.

  1. Find your niche - The blogging world is now very congested, which is also a sign that blogging for cash is a highly beneficial business that a lot of people are getting into it. The secret to successful blogging is to find a niche and then dig down into it to find a hungry crowd. In so doing you will stand out above all the blogs out there. Preferably, find a niche with a lot of money-spending readers.
  2. Find a good topic and stick to it - If you can't find a niche, at least come up with a very good topic for your blog, then stick to it. Be focused and sustain the target of your blog. This will help sustain the following that you manage to create.
  3. Content is still king - Surely you've heard the phrase that "content is king." Times have changed and the blogging world has evolved, but content is still king. The Internet is used the most for information searching, so if you have the information that readers are seeking, then readers will go to your blog.

Blogging for cash has a lot of promise. It's not instant money, though. Blogging for cash takes time and work, but it's something that you can do on your own, a personal project that you can devote time to and nurture as it grows. And, along the way, you can create a pretty sizable income.
